Capital and Special Gifts

Sometimes there are needs that exceed a parish's operating budget. Often those needs will center on things like major facility improvements. In order to meet such needs we engage in special campaigns. Look below to learn more about such needs at Christ Church

Christ Church Capital Campaign

Rooted. Growing. Building.

In 2020 Christ Church launched the Rooted. Growing. Building Campaign. Originally a five-year campaign, it was later extended to a seven-year campaign after the pandemic caused a pause during fundraising in 2020.

This capital camaign is still ongoing, and should wrap up in December 2026. The main projects for Rooted. Growing. Building. included:

  • Shifting Frederica Road. This allows a safer travel route past Christ Church for our parishioners and our neighbors. It also created safe parking without the need to cross the street.
  • Repairs to the Parish House Foundation. We discovered a serious structural issue with the Parish House, required the replacement of nearly 80% of all joists and beams under the building.
  • The Labyrinth at Christ Church. We were able to install a beautiful permanent labyrinth in the wooded area across from Christ Church.
  • St. Ignatius Parking Lot. We were able to regrae and resurface the parking area at St. Ignatius chapel to improve water runoff and include ADA accessible parking.
  • St. Ignatius Lighting. We replaced the lights and fans in St. Ignatius chapel, making the worship experience much better.
  • Parish Hall Refresh. We replaced all the flooring and repainted the entire interior of our Parish Hall Building.
  • Campus Signage. We installed beautiful and functional signage on our main campus, using the current grounds and structures as inspiration.
  • Parish Hall Roof. We replaced the entire Parish Hall Roof, making the building secure and dry for decades to come.

We are still accepting new pledges and increased pledges as we work to pay off the debt.

Amount Pledged as of April 2025: $3,509,000

Goal for Additional Pledges: $1,000,000

Special Giving

Memorial or Special Giving Opportunities

Christ Church has several items on our wish list for those who might want to make a major special gift or memorial gift. These are not projects that we have plans to pursue, however, funding for a project can make it feasible. Our first priority is payng off the current capital campaign project list. Special future projects include:

  • Parish Hall Lighting. We would like to replace the brass chandeliers and sconces in the Parish Hall. After a lighting study and choosing fixtures, we anticipate a cost of $80,000 to replace all the lighting and wiring.
  • Parish Hall Worship Platform. We envision a refreshed parish hall and permanent wooden platform to facilitate a worship-friendly space that is more conducive to worshipping in the larger space it repesents. Costs for this project range from $100,000 to $400,000 depending on the extent of renovation.
  • New Piano in Christ Church. Our Music program can benefit from a new baby grand piano for use in the Church. Estimated cost is approximately $75,000.
  • New Organ in Christ Church. Our Allen digital organ is slowly wearing out as the electronics become harder to repair or replace. We have not established a budget for an organ.
  • Site Signage at St. Ignatius Chapel. We have drawn up plans for attractive signage and masonry entrance markers at St. Ignatius Chapel. The cost could be approximately $75,000-$100,000 for the entire project.
  • New Lych Gate and Grading. We have plans on hold for replacing the Lych Gate as it has begun to deteriorate. We would also regrade the enrtrance to the church yard at the same time to address drainage issues from moderate to heavy rainfall. The total cost of this project could be as much as $100,000.
Endowment Gifts

Support for Christ Church Long Term

We are blessed to have an endowment at Christ Church. Our Vestry and Endowment Committee work to grow the corpus of our fund so that it can continue to support ministry over the long term. Most years we spend a 4% disbursement from the endowment to allow all sorts of wonderful ministries to take place.

Gifts to the endowment are always welcome. Some are made as memorial gifts, others without restrictions, and some for specific purposes. There is a minimum gift size to allow for a named sub-fund within the larger endowment. Gifts made specifically to the endowment are protected in perpetuity, with only a small disbursement permissible each year.
